The natural shelter of the headland makes swimming pleasant for much of the year, even at the quieter end of the season.
A train station is just a five-minute walk away and connects Marina di Caronia to the full length of the north Sicilian coast, from the island’s capital Palermo in the west to Messina in the east. The mountains make their presence felt practically as well as visually: a ten-minute drive up into the hills takes you to the village of Caronia, a similar size to Marina but older and more representative of year-round Sicilian life.
For supermarket shopping, Santo Stefano di Camastra is ten minutes’ drive away. Sant’Agata di Militello, another ten minutes further west, offers a small hospital and the Nebrodi coast’s tourist port, from which boats run along the coastline and out to the Aeolian Islands.
Cefalù is about forty minutes by car or train. Palermo’s airport, the nearest international gateway, is around ninety minutes’ drive. Messina is approximately eighty minutes in the other direction.
Potential
As covered above, Appartamento Filippo II is complete and needs nothing beyond the purchase price. The situation mirrors that of Appartamento Filippo next door almost exactly, and that property’s new owners were settling in comfortably within weeks of completing.
